In putting together a report, I go a step further than administering psychometric assessments and incorporate elements of Career Counselling using the Life Design approach. The process includes the following:

  • Narrative Construction: Individuals are encouraged to construct their career narratives by reflecting on their past experiences, present circumstances, and future aspirations. By exploring the stories they tell about themselves and their career journeys, clients gain insight into their values, interests, and goals.
  • Self-Concept and Identity: The Life Design Approach recognises that career decisions are influenced by individuals' self-concepts and identities. I help clients explore how their self-perceptions, cultural backgrounds, and life roles shape their career aspirations and choices.
  • Life Themes and Patterns: Clients are encouraged to identify recurring themes, patterns, and interests across different life domains, such as work, relationships, and leisure activities. Recognising these patterns helps individuals make informed career decisions that align with their core values and passions.
  • Adaptability and Flexibility: The Life Design Approach emphasises the importance of adaptability and flexibility in navigating career transitions and uncertainties. I assist clients in developing resilience and problem-solving skills to cope with unexpected challenges and opportunities.
  • Action-Oriented Planning: The Life Design Approach encourages clients to take proactive steps towards their career goals by developing action plans and setting realistic milestones. I provide support, feedback, and resources to help clients implement their career plans effectively.
  • Meaning-Making and Purpose: Central to the Life Design Approach is the belief that meaningful work is essential for personal fulfillment and well-being. Counselors help clients explore how their career choices can contribute to a sense of purpose, fulfillment, and alignment with their broader life goals.

Recent Graduates: Graduates who are entering the workforce for the first time may find career assessments helpful in identifying potential career paths and job opportunities that match their qualifications and interests. Mid-Career Professionals: Mid-career professionals who are seeking advancement or considering a career transition can use career assessments to reassess their skills, interests, and career priorities. Assessments can help them identify new opportunities for growth and development within their current field or explore alternative career paths.
